Happy Cinco de Mayo

We celebrate Skippyjon Jones today!!! Skippyjon Jones is such a large part of our grade one classroom.  He brings smiles to the grade ones faces every morning when he hides and sneaks around.  Today we celebrate him and I am brought back to a highlight of my teaching career.  This song was written by one of my studens for me, her teacher.  The song encompasses everything I intend for Skippyjon to do!  Enjoy!

School Closure

To all my grade one friends,

I will be updating my website frequently to try and move through aspects of our curriculum. Please take the next couple of days to find a cozy place in your home to work with your child and keep the physical activity going!!! Find an empty journal/exercise book where your child can write in daily. Blank paper will work too. I recommend 15-20 mins of work then movement. Working with your child one on one for 1.5-2 hours a day will help to maintain and enhance their learning. I am unsure of what the next couple of weeks entail but I am here for support whenever needed! I plan on sending videos of read alouds and number concepts. Please stay tuned. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

Welcome Back!!!

th

Welcome Back for our second term of grade one! We have so much fun to have and lots to learn.  During our second term we will focus on addition and subtraction, continuing to enhance our reading accuracy and a variety of activities to help build our STEM knowledge. We will also have our 100th day celebration, Valentines party and Cinco de Mayo fiesta. There will be big jumps in our reading so please continue to support your child’s reading and writing at home.  I look forward to watching these young minds flourish over the next couple of months!
